The Restena Foundation has an immediate opening for a

NETWORK ENGINEER (M/F)

Permanent contract • Fulltime/40h • Belval

LU-CIX and Restena have been partnering since 2016 for the management of the LU-CIX national Internet exchange backbone and have been operating together since 2020 the national DDoS scrubbing centre.

To complement the motivated team and continue improving its operations, Restena is looking for a network engineer with an interest in DDoS countermeasures.

Restena is offering an environment where skilled and friendly people collaborate for a stable and resilient Internet infrastructure.

Your main tasks

• Manage and operate a DDoS scrubbing infrastructure
• Manage and operate an Internet network infrastructure (including the national research and education network)
• Manage and operate the national Internet exchange point
• Maintain and improve existing tools and applications, supporting the operational needs of a network team
• Develop, deploy, and integrate tools and applications in the existing environment

You will be required to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.

Your profile

• Degree in telecommunication or computer science or equivalent knowledge in the field
• Solid understanding of network technologies, esp. routing protocols
• Being at ease working in a Unix-based IT environment
• Programming and scripting experience in languages such (e.g. Python, bash)
• Interest in improving/developing DDoS defending skills
• Be fully proficient in English
• Display team spirit

Skills considered an advantage

• Previous experience in mitigating DDoS attacks and knowledge of related practices
• Experience with automation solutions (preferably ansible)
• Understanding and speaking French, Luxemburgish, or German
